Detailed features

All features included

Everything is free forever — PIN protection, lock triggers, Child Lock, Stealth Mode, Intruder Photo Capture, and more. All data stays on your device.

Core Protection

Essential security features — free forever.

PIN Protection

4-digit PIN to unlock locked Vault tabs. A one-time backup code is generated at setup for recovery if you forget your PIN.

Add Sites to Vault

Add any HTTPS site to your Vault from the popup. It starts protecting immediately, locking when triggered.

Manual Lock

Lock a Vault tab on demand from the extension — no need to wait for an automatic trigger.

Lock Styles

Choose between a smooth blur effect or a solid color overlay. The obscured page is non-interactive until you enter your PIN.

Multi-Language

Available in 7 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, and Chinese.

Session Limit

Cap how long a Vault tab stays unlocked after PIN entry, regardless of activity.

Child Lock

Supervised browsing with an Allowlist of approved sites.

Automation

Lock triggers that protect in the background — free forever.

Auto-Lock on Idle

Step away? After a customizable idle timeout (default 60s) with no mouse, keyboard, or scroll activity, the tab locks automatically.

Lock on Tab Switch

Leave a Vault tab and it locks instantly. Coming back requires your PIN — no more walking away with sensitive pages exposed.

Lock on Page Load

Lock a site immediately on every page navigation. The PIN overlay appears before page content is usable.

Power Features

Advanced control and extra security — free forever.

Per-Site Timeouts

Override the default idle auto-lock duration per domain. Email at 30s, banking at 15s, GitHub at 2min — whatever fits your flow.

Site Lists

Group sites into named lists. Lock your entire "Banking" or "Work" list in one click — essential before screen sharing.

Intruder Photo Capture

Optionally capture a camera still on failed unlock attempts. Local-only — never synced to the cloud.

Stealth Mode

Disguise a Lock with a fake site-error screen until you double-click to reveal the PIN overlay.

Use cases

Built for real-life privacy gaps

Whether you share a machine or just leave your desk, SiteVault covers the moments when tabs stay open.

Shared Computers

Protect banking, email, and work tabs on family or office machines without logging out of everything.

Stepping Away

Walk to a meeting or grab coffee — auto-lock on idle covers the screen before anyone peeks.

Screen Sharing

Batch-lock a site list before you share your screen so vault tabs never flash into the call.

Privacy at Work

Keep personal browsing locked while you collaborate — PIN unlock only when you need it.

A supervised browsing mode: only sites on your Allowlist can be visited — everything else shows a block screen.

An option that disguises a locked tab with a fake site-error screen. Double-click the error page to reveal the PIN overlay — useful when you don't want others to know a tab is PIN-protected.

Optionally captures a still camera photo on failed unlock attempts. Photos stay on your device — never synced to the cloud.

Named groups of vault sites you can lock together in one click — handy before screen sharing.

SiteVault can lock vault tabs automatically after idle time (no mouse, keyboard, or scroll activity), when you switch away from a tab, or immediately on page load. You can also lock manually from the extension, cap unlock duration with Session Limit, or override idle timeouts per site.

Your vault configuration stays on your device. You can export settings as a file from the extension and import them on another browser or machine when needed.

Yes. Your PIN is SHA-256 hashed before it's ever stored locally. The hash never leaves your device.

When you first set your PIN, a one-time 8-character backup code is generated (shown only once). Store it in a password manager. On the lock screen, tap "Use backup code instead" to unlock.

Like all browser extensions, a technically savvy user with physical access can remove the overlay via Chrome DevTools. SiteVault protects against casual access and idle snooping — not determined attackers with device access.

Currently Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera). The extension uses Manifest V3 for better performance and security compliance.

No. SiteVault runs entirely in your browser — no analytics, no telemetry, no accounts, and no data collection. Your vault, settings, and photos stay on your device.
